Kimpton CC v Saracens Cricket Club 1st XI on Sun 08 Sep 2013 at 1.30pm
Saracens Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets
Match report
Wih Letchworth crying off we picked up a conference fixture at Kimpton.with long sleeved sweaters being worn for first time this season (apart from Rich Gough) who had no gear, Vinnie negotiated the toss and decided to bowl first . after 3 overs Kimpton had reached 30 without loss(knebworth all over again) and had Sarries had lost a bowler in Babs injured with a bad back/broken fingernail.after the first three overs we started to battle back with some good tight bowling from rich Gough 1-19,tricky 2-20 , and statler and waldorf with 3-20 and 3-15. Flipper and Randy made up the rest of jeffs overs with Randy picking up his first club wicket. special mention to Slogger for 3 stumpings and two catches . We bowled out the oppo for 130 in 28.1 overs.
Sarries reply didnt start too well with Vinny ,Tony and Fud back in the pavillion without troubling the scorers and shane out for 4 leaving us 12-4. slight recovery took us to 20 before a misunderstanding (yes no oh f**K it )led to randy (12) being run out.(more on that later). This brought Rich Gough to the wicket and him and slogger were never troubled as they put on over 100 partnership in quick time to take us to victory with Slogger hitting the winning runs in style with a 6. Rich Gough finishd 59 n.o and slogger 48 n.o.
. good game and the skipper was never worried and had faith in his batting line up.
w award - candidates were the three scoring 0 and they were the clear favourites until randy produced a memorable historical speech about the run out and swayed the vote towards Slogger . W award -Slogger
Before finishing two classics from Rich Gough -1) i cant find the 3 to put up on the scoreboard . Its on the back of the two someone politely pointed out 2)I dont like batting out of the top four as i never get runs. But rich you went in 6 today.
Good win and well done to all
