Roydon v Saracens Cricket Club 1st XI on Sun 21 Sep 2014 at 1.00pm
Saracens Cricket Club Won by 6 Wickets
So we finally travelled to Roydon, having been rained off for the previous two years and arrived in bright sunshine after a wet day on Saturday.
Pete King wrapped up the W-award with 55 mins to go before the start, by dropping out on route, and despite trying we would take the field with 10 again, after losing the toss and the home side elected to bat.
"CF" and Nathan opened up and were pretty good from the off, Nathan picked up our first wicket during his excellent 10 over spell and then TP replaced "CF" and bowled 8 lively overs, using the damp wicket to his advantage and picked up two wickets in the process.
Dinghy and Bun were introduced into the attack and immediately settled in, before Sanderson decided to take the attack to us, a quick discussion and change of tact saw Dinghy strike and then Bun pretty quickly afterwards leaving Roydon on 120-6.
Some lower order hitting allowed the home side to reach 189-9 from 48.3 overs, Dinghy finishing with 5 wickets.
After a rather entertaining, but good Tea - Vinnie and "CF" opened up as we looked to chase down 189 on a slow, but drying wicket. "CF" was bowled for 4 and the after a few lusty blows, Jim was caught for 9.
Slogger joined Vinnie, and the pair picked up where they left off last week, batting cautiously before runs became easier to come by. After 19 overs, the score was 76-2, meaning 114 were required from the last 20 overs.
50 were scored from the first 10 overs, and the score moved on to 141 before Vinnie was caught behind for 60, ending a partnership of 107 for the 3rd wicket.
With 7 overs to go - 41 runs were needed, Slogger and Randy continued to move the score on and reached 165 before Slogger was caught on the sweep for 72. We now required 25 to win from 4 overs.
TP joined Randy, and took 14 from the 36th over (including two straight 6's) meaning we now required 11 from 3. The pair scampered 4 from the 37th and took 8 from the 38th, leaving 1 run required from the last. After 2 dot balls, Randy launched one towards the long on boundary to see us home. Randy finishing 23 not out and TP on 19.
A great run chase as we pretty much came from no where and a 6 wicket win means we have now won 9 matches in a row for the first time ever.
W-Award: Pete King (as mentioned earlier) although Bun ran him very very Close!!!!!
