Match report
Saracens turned up to Nazeing common on a warm Sunday afternoon. After the toss was negotiated, Saracens were bowling.
Randy and Raghu opened the bowling and after a few overs Nazeing had got off to a good start. Jonny Harris replaced Randy but struggled to stem the flow as Nazeings opening batsmen was batting well. Bun replaced Raghu and Dinghy replaced Jonny. Catches were dropped! Apart from Tony, who took a very good outstretched catch. Bun finished with 4 and Dinghy with 3. 223 for 7 on a good pitch with a short boundary, very gettable.
After a good tea with excellent homemade cakes, Jonny and Tricky opened. With singles and the boundaries flowing they were above the rate. Jonny was caught after miss hitting a full toss, James joined Tricky and run rate kept up with some more good running. James missed a straight one and was lbw for 9, Randy came to the crease. With singles and the occasional bad ball runs were everywhere, until Barker came on to bowl. Bowling tight lines Randy was caught which bought Rich to the crease, Tricky got to his 50. Saracens up with the rate, just losing regular wickets! Rich hit 12 off an over, but played around a straight one and was back in the hutch. Dinghy joined Tricky both getting going until Tricky was bowled for 90. Conor was in the middle for the first time, first ball whacked for four and couple of singles, starting to build a good little partnership, Conor was bowled. Tony was in, then out caught. Vinnie joined Dinghy with plenty to do, after some strong shots Dinghy was caught with a good low catch that was hit hard, Raghu and Vinnie rotated the strike well but we're starting to get behind the rate. Raghu looked solid and even hit his reverse sweep but was caught and bowled by Barker. Bun was in with his rhubarb and hit his first ball for 4, 25 needed! Bun trapped in the crease lbw and we fell 23 runs short.
A decent effort apart from the catches that were dropped.
W award- Dinghy, dropped two catches and an unbeaten season comment a few weeks ago.
