Saracens Cricket Club

Watton-at-Stone CC v Saracens Cricket Club 1st XI on Sun 24 Jul 2016 at 1.00pm
Saracens Cricket Club Won by 57 runs

Match report Away again and the sun was shining on ladies day. Tricky continued his form of losing the toss and we were batting.
With the pimms and prosecco flowing jonny and vinny opened and just like at Little Hadham scored quickly and with only 12 overs gone had put on 97 before vinny lofted one to mid on for 25. Jonny and tricks continued to push the score along before Jonny was caught for a splendid 86 and tricky(9) was stumped by keeper standing back (w award nomination). Rich Gough(9) cracked a couple of fours before playing on and when dingy (30) did the same we were in danger of not making 200 as all the recognised batsmen had gone.
James A.joined Conor and a useful partnership took the score beyond 200 before conor was bowled followed soon after by Chris not troubling the scorers. Marcus on debut hit two fours before being caught which left James( still not a recognised batsman 27no) and mini man(4no)to push the score to 228 -8.
A wonderful tea followed with the ladies still on the pimms and prosecco and we took to the field with new keeper james (certainly wouldn't be quiet behind the stumps).
Rich and tricky opened and soon had the batsmen in trouble with 3 wickets . Rich Gough the best his bowled for the club picked up 2-28 and tricky 1-37. Bun(1-37) and mini man(1-29) came on and continued the good work picking up vital wickets .Mini man's day sadly came to an end when he tore a calf muscle and had to be carried from the field and duly sat down and had a glass of pimms .
With Watton falling behind the rate despite us given them 5 runs when ball hit the helmet (w award nomination two). dingy and Marcus cleaned up the tail end with Marcus on debut picking up 3-19 and dingy 2-14 .Watton finished on 171 all out
Good bowling performance backed up well in the field with 8 catches .
Back to winning ways after 4 weeks and with the drink still flowing the w award was to be decided. Jonny was a late nomination for his girly striped blue and white shorts and saying he had never won it and up against regular nominee James (how did tricky get away with thst) duly won it with 6 votes.
Ladies day was rounded off with more drinking in the pub (poor dingy and bun) and the talk was of more than one ladies day a season. Leave that one to be debated
See you all next week
