Saracens Cricket Club

Hoddesdon v Saracens Cricket Club 1st XI on Sun 26 Apr 2009 at 1pm
Saracens Cricket Club Lost by 101 runs

Match report Despite a horrible early week forecast, the first game of the year was played on a glorious day. Hoddesdon ground was good as always, the pitch looked like there was a fair few runs in it.

Hoddesdon batted first in a Time game, their openers got away to a very good start. One made 69, and another bat made 43 to set the Saracens 222 to win. Mike Bigby got 6 for 46 and was the standout bowler, but Matt Ayre bowled well at the start, as well as a good debut by Jeff Allen.

At 3 for 9, Sarries reply looked in deep trouble. Andrew Young (24) and Peter Scollen (38, on debut) got us to a safer area, but apart from some lusty late order hitting, Saracens only got to 120, giving Hoddy a 101 run win.

A good hit out for early season, 3 Debuts. (Tony Bunyan played as well)

W Award = Ian Knighton
